Tour Summary
The best of Cambodia and Thailand! Ride along the klongs in Bangkok, once known as the
Venice of East. . Take care of your own elephants in Chiang Mai. Throw water at each
other during Songkran Festival. Be awed by the Khmer masterpiece at Angkor Wat. The
sombering feeling at Choeung Ek Killing Fields at Phnom Penh.

APRIL 8
Arrival into Bangkok. Meet your deaf guide at the airport and check into your hotel. Welcome dinner. Stay in Bangkok for 5 nights.
APRIL 9
Possible short visit at Setsatian School for the Deaf (as the school will be closed during their summer). Head up to Ayutthaya to see the majestic capital ruins of the Second Kingdom, while Bangkok is the capital of the Third Kingdom. Learn how Ayutthaya rose to prominence after Sukothai, the capital of the First Kingdom, fell. Return to Bangkok in late afternoon. Free time for shopping at Siam Square as there are 5 malls right next to each other. Each with 5 to 8 floors with over 4,200 stores and restaurants.
APRIL 10
In the morning, we visit the Fourth Kingdom at Rattanakosin, which evolved into Bangkok. Marvel at the splendid Grand Palace, glittering Wat Phra Kaew and Wat Pho, where a 160 foot long Reclining Buddha reside. Then we take a boat tour across Chao Phraya River to Thonburi, which was the Third Kingdom. Go through the klongs (canals) with stops at Wat Arun, Artist’s House and orchid farm. Try to spot a water monitor! Afterwards, we take the Skytrain back to Siam Square for dinner.
APRIL 11
We head out to Ratchaburi to see the interesting Mae Klong train market, as well as Damnoen Saduak floating market. Short ride on paddle boats. Sample homemade coconut ice cream. Get on bicycles and ride through rustic countryside for 19 miles with several stops enroute.
APRIL 12
An all day excursion to Pattaya.
APRIL 13
In the morning, we fly from Bangkok to Chiang Mai. After checking into hotel, we head up to Doi Suthep, high in the mountain with a beautiful view of Chiang Mai. Free time in the afternoon. Stay in Chiang Mai for 3 nights.
APRIL 14
Each of us would be spending all day at a rescue sanctuary dressed up in mahout outfits and learning how to take care of our own elephants, including doing a physical examination, feeding, brushing and bathing. Walk with your elephant up a hill for a picnic lunch by the waterfall, and a swim with your elephant afterwards. Do some shopping at the Chang Klan Night Bazaar after dinner.
APRIL 15
All day excursion to visit the Wat Rong Seur Ten (Blue Temple) and Wat Rong Khun (White Temple) in Chiang Rai.
APRIL 16
For most of the day, we have a long hike to see a waterfall. In the evening, we catch an overnight train back to Bangkok.
APRIL 17
After arriving into Bangkok in the morning, we transfer to the airport for our flight to Siem Reap. Free time in the afternoon. Go swimming in the pool. Stay in Siem Reap for 3 nights.
APRIL 18
In the morning, we see deaf as well as “differently abled” craftspeople (artists, painters, embroiderers and sculptors) at Les Artisans D’Angkor. Then the rest of the day will be exploring Angkor Complex sites including Bantey Srey, Bayon Temple, Elephant Terrace and Ta Prohm.
APRIL 19
Visit private French run deaf school. Head out to ride on a boat at Tonle Sap Lake, where you get a glimpse of daily life on floating villages, complete with schools, restaurants and hospitals. After lunch, we visit Angkor Wat, including its spectacular sunset view. Humans only circus show in the evening.
APRIL 20
5-hour drive from Siem Reap to Phnom Penh with a lunch stop enroute. Visit the National Museum. Stay in Phnom Penh for 2 nights.
APRIL 21
Visit Wat Phnom, Lady Penh and Royal Palace. Lunch at a café for good cause, then visit Tuol Sleong Genocide Museum and Choeung Ek Killing Fields. Farewell dinner.
APRIL 22
Transfer to the airport for your flight back to San Francisco.
