Scott and Shayna:
We are thrilled to be a Base Camp sponsor for Scott and Shayna. Who are they? They are two deaf explorers and mountaineers from America who have a big goal… to climb to the top of Mount Everest, the highest mountain in the world.
So far, only one deaf person has reached the summit of Everest. Scott and Shayna aim to be the second and third. In addition they’d be the first deaf Americans and the first deaf woman to accomplish this.
We believe in seeing glass ceilings broken everywhere in various fields. We need to continue to show the world that for the deaf, nothing is impossible. Also, we support them because they are showing a big commitment to educating the next generation of deaf youth.
We at HOT share that same value. Travel is very educational and we do not believe in making it an individual learning experience. We believe in sharing these experiences with others. The world is a beautiful place and it is important to educate others on how to be sensitive and better citizens.
