When I established Hands On Italia in 2002, the intention was to focus only on providing tours to Italy. But as our first customers began coming in 2003, they all remarked on how they wanted the same quality of service and same travel experience in other countries. So, in 2005 we rebranded our company Hands On Travel in order to provide a wider variety of tours.
I had to decide which tour to establish as our first tour outside of Italy. And… I chose Ireland. Why? This island has always had a hold on my heart ever since the first time I visited it. There’s just something special about this island that speaks to me.
People ask me what my favorite country in the world is. Often it is a difficult question to answer because all countries are beautiful in their own ways and for any traveler who travels with an open mind and heart, any country will reveal their hidden gems.
However, Ireland is always near the top of my list because I love all the shades of green, the fresh air, the warm people, and the underrated food.
While the rest of Europe was suffering through a brutal heat wave (along with America) we were fortunate to stay in cooler weather. We had a wonderful jaunt around the island and learned so much about Irish history from our team of local deaf guides. We also took some challenging walks, including the full loop of Inishbofin Island and walking up to the top of the Gap of Dunloe.
Next year we have two trips to Ireland and we’re already counting down the days to go back!
