Bella Italia: The Tour That Feels Like Coming Home
Ciao, bella! My travel season kicked off with one of my all-time favorite adventures — our signature “Bella Italia” tour. From April 1 to 14, I led our first group of 2025 through the heart of Italy, and wow, what a journey it was!
This tour is extra special to me — it’s where it all began. Back in 2002, “Bella Italia” was the very first tour Hands On Travel ever offered. Fast forward 23 years, and it still holds all the charm and nostalgia of those early days. Italy is the kind of place that wraps you in its arms every time you return — and this tour is like visiting old friends who’ve missed you.

One of our most unforgettable days? Capri — but not just any Capri visit. We ditched the crowded ferries long ago and now cruise in style with our beloved local duo, Nello and Francesca, who captain our private boat. These two have perfected the art of hospitality on the waves. Their warm welcome and effortless charm turn a day trip into something that feels like a family outing… just with better views and a sea breeze.
A Tuscan Table with Luciano
If you’ve ever dreamed of that postcard-perfect Tuscan meal, Luciano’s osteria is it. Tucked away in a quiet little town, Luciano has been part of my Italy story since the very beginning. I used to spend my nights there doing research, and dinner at his place became a tradition — the kind of tradition you never want to end. This time, we lunched al fresco on the sun-drenched piazza, surrounded by historic stone buildings and the slow hum of Tuscan life. The food? Homemade, heartfelt, and unforgettable.
Local Legends: Meet Claudio
Every city has its secrets — and we get to uncover them thanks to incredible local guides like Claudio. Born and raised in the city we visited, Claudio brings layers of history alive, from Roman ruins to hidden alleyway gems. But what makes him truly stand out is his Deaf perspective. His stories, insights, and cultural context bring a whole new dimension to the places we explore — it’s the kind of depth you simply can’t find in a guidebook.
Time Flies When You’re Living La Dolce Vita
And just like that… it was over. As we said our goodbyes, I heard the familiar refrain: “Wait, how is it over already?!” And I always smile — because that’s how you know it was a good one. If time drags, something’s missing. But if it flies? That means magic happened.
