April 7–19 | 12 Nights | From Chantilly to Paris
We embarked on a spectacular 13-day journey through the heart of France, curated especially for Deaf travelers and friends. From medieval castles and dramatic coastlines to iconic cities and Deaf cultural landmarks, this immersive tour offers a once-in-a-lifetime experience blending history, art, and accessibility.
🏰 Châteaux & Welcomes – April 7
Our adventure began with smiles and excitement at Charles de Gaulle Airport, where guests met their expert Deaf guides and hit the road to Chantilly Château—a regal gem surrounded by serene gardens and horse stables. A warm welcome dinner capped off our first evening in France.
⚔️ Vikings, Saints, and Tapestries – April 8
After checking out of Chantilly, we lunched in Rouen, uncovering stories of Joan of Arc and Viking legend Rollo. The day ended in Bayeux, home to the incredible 11th-century tapestry, and then onto Arromanches, our base for exploring Normandy’s WWII history.
🌊 D-Day Reflections – April 9
A powerful and emotional day, we dove into WWII history with visits to the Arromanches museum, Longues-sur-Mer battery, Normandy American Cemetery, Pointe du Hoc, and Omaha Beach. A day of learning, remembrance, and awe.
⛪ Island Wonder & Coastal Beauty – April 10–11
From the towering magic of Mont St. Michel to the wind-swept cliffs of Cap Fréhel, we explored the Breton coast. In St. Malo, legends of corsairs and walled cities stirred our imaginations.
🌀 Da Vinci & the Loire Valley – April 12–14
We journeyed inland to Amboise, where Leonardo da Vinci spent his final days. The graceful Château de Chenonceau, known for its women-led history, and the architectural marvel of Chambord dazzled the group.
👑 Palace Grandeur & Paris Arrival – April 15
We stepped into royal luxury at Versailles, guided by a local Deaf expert. That evening, we rolled into the luminous heart of Paris, our home for the final four nights.
🎭 Deaf Culture & Artistry – April 16–18
Our time in Paris celebrated Deaf culture and iconic art. Highlights included:
- A vibrant French Sign Language workshop at International Visual Theater
- A soulful visit to St. Jacques Deaf School, where Laurent Clerc once learned
- Timeless sights like Notre Dame, Sainte-Chapelle, Montmartre, the Eiffel Tower, and Louvre Museum, all with Deaf-friendly guidance
- A heartfelt farewell dinner (including RIchard’s 65th birthday) & evening Seine cruise under the Parisian lights
✈️ Farewells & Memories – April 19
We ended the journey with hearts full, minds inspired, and friendships forged. Guests departed for their flights or extended stays, bidding “à bientôt” to a truly unforgettable experience.
