9 DAYS / 8 NIGHTS

DAY 1 - 4

DAY 1 - Arrival into Halifax. Your guide will meet you at the airport, and transfer you to hotel. Free time. Stroll along Halifax waterfront. Welcome dinner. Stay in Halifax for 2 nights.

DAY 2 - Grand tour of Halifax. Fairview Lawn Cemetery, where many Titanic victims were buried. Then a walking tour – Halifax Seaport Farmer’s Market, Halifax Citadel, Halifax Public Gardens and the Canadian Museum of Immigration at Pier 21. Optionally in the evening, you could sample some beer at Alexander Keith’s brewery, which was founded in 1820.

DAY 3 -  Morning stop at a sugar shack run by the same family for over 100 years, and learn how maple sugar is processed. Lighthouse and fishing village at Peggy’s Cove. Lunenberg. Fisheries Museum of the Atlantic. Late afternoon ferry from Digby, Nova Scotia to Saint John, New Brunswick. Overnight in Moncton.

DAY 4 -  Hopewell Rocks at Bay of Fundy. Mary’s Point, a sanctuary for shorebird species. Cross the Abegweit Passage to Prince Edward Island. Free time to explore Charlottetown. Stay in Charlottetown for 2 nights.

DAY 5 - 9

DAY 5 - Morning drive to Kensington, where we visit the Anne of Green Gables House, which served as an inspiration for L. M. Montgomery’s famous novel. Cavendish Beach.

DAY 6 - Stop at Wood Islands, a fishing village, before boarding a ferry to Caribou on the Northumberland Strait. Stop at coastal town of Pictou where Scottish immigrants landed in the late 18th century. Stop at Baddeck on the shore of Bras d’Or Lake known as the starting and ending point of the Cabot Trail. See the various experiments and inventions at the Alexander Graham Bell National Historic Site. Overnight somewhere on Cape Breton Island.

DAY 7 -  Cape Breton Highlands including the fishing town of Cheticamp as well as scenic photo stops at Neil’s Harbour and Ingonish Beach. Overnight at either Port Hawkesbury or Antigonish.

DAY 8 - Drive south to Grand-Pré, and learn about Acadian history at the UNESCO listed national historic site. Return to Halifax. Farewell dinner. Overnight in Halifax.

DAY 9 - Transfer to Halifax airport for your flights, or continue with an optional 6 day extension to Newfoundland and Labrador.
